Gooseberry, I cut a hole in the front/bottom of my oven box to accommodate a pan and wood chips.
Makes a great portable smoker. Not too hard to do.

yeah definitely. the soot and ash would fall through bottom of that thing though and potentially clog the jets on your burners. A small low profile metal bowl or container of some sort would do the trick.

How did I not know that this oven existed! Only $35 on Amazon... I am upset with myself for missing out on this for so long.

A small pot pie dish would work and maybe some foil wrapped around the outside to keep in the lower temps.

I found i needed to keep the oven door partially open to allow for heat to escape to keep the temps in the mid to high 100's. It requires more chips but that's not a big deal. I have a little chief smoker at home. I used the chip pan from that and cut a slot out for the handle similar to the chief. Worka very well on trips to Baja. I have since replaced it with a small gas smokehouse smoker I bring with me. Much better operation but also a bit bigger and more cumbersome. Either way having smoked meats to eat in the bsckcountry and packaged up to bring home is something I always look forward too.

I'm in the cheap a** butane stove crowd. They work well for me and fit nicely in the box.

We use the two burner break apart Partner Steel stove but do keep one of the two butane stoves that came with our SMB for quick stuff.

Hello,
I’m hunting for a small stove I can use inside my van on bad days ( rain, snow)! Single burner is probably fine. The “ person” who owned it before me had Everything involving propane removed, including the stove, piping, heater, and etc. so I have nothing at all,
except a small microwave! Most of my food is also freeze-dried, so I don’t need a lot. I also have a portable electric steamer for veggies etc. and and electric soup pot, plus slow cooker. All these thing use up power pretty fast if you’re boondocking at all.
Suggestions? Drawbacks to whatever you use?
Thanks so very much,
ConnieKat

Your best unit will be a jet boil for hot water or the butane stove.
