CVB, nice job! This is very similar to what we're contemplating.
Thanks for posting!

Re: 2003 Ford homebrew "Moby"
Thanks again for all of the positive comments. We have put almost 20,000 miles on the van since December. and we love it. For those looking for more pics, sadly I did not take many during the build (was not planning on documenting at the time) but I do have a few that I will post in my gallery. Good luck with your builds and safe travels!

How do you like the V8 power? Do you know how much the van weighs full for camping?

Just got back from the local dump and had the van weighed, 8020 lbs with me and 2 60lb dogs. Add the girlfriend and our gear and I doubt were much over 8500lbs. Pretty light compared to a EB SMB.

Re: 2003 Ford homebrew "Moby"
CVB, are the reading lights incandescent, or LED?
If LED, what was your source for the light fixtures?
Thanks in advance.

The reading lights above the bed are CCF's or Cold Cathode Fluorecents. They are 5 times more efficient than halogen or incandecents and twice as efficient as regular fluorecents and only slightly less efficient as LED's. They are made by TalorMade Products. http://www.taylormadeproducts.com/taylo ... h_ccf.html and I got them from iboats.com http://www.iboats.com/Taylorbrite-CCF-R ... _id.372381 I really like these lights, they have a very pleasent neutral light spectum with plenty of brightness for reading. They make a great all around cabin light as well, and they are dimmable. These lights are well made and I would recomend them.
Another source for lighting I've found is imtra, http://www.imtra.com/product/marine_lighting.htm They have some real nice products (our halogen flush mount puck lights are from them) but their stuff is pretty expensive.
Hope this helps................Luke

Re: 2003 Ford homebrew "Moby"
Well, another day spent with my other significant other...Moby the van. Today I re-mounted the solar panel in order to make room for the new roof rack from yakima. I know I know, not quite as cool and nice as alluminess or some other custom racks I've seen on this site, but hey, I gotta pretend I've got some sort of budget.... Right?
