Re: 2006 Build

The interior is being figured out right know, were trying to get our final the lay out figured out & in the van this week, after we get everything taped & laid out, I will shoot some pictures and make sure I post them.

One of the reasons why it's taken us so long to get our interior started, is that we've been trying to do as much research on everything as we can, in hopes of finding some/any lightweight materials. Hopefully this will help us keep the van's overall weight down, but with out sacrificing any integrity. During this build we've continually tried to make sure that we are not adding much performance zapping unnecessary weight!

We may have possibly come up with a great way to save a lot of weight when it comes to the interior build, there is this product that I'm looking into that is supposed to be as strong as plywood, you cut & build with it like plywood, but here's the killer part, it weights somewhere around (when I get the spec's I post actual numbers) 1/10 of what wood weights. It even can come in colors finished so there will be no need to ad veneer or paint/stain which will save time, money & weight!

I would also like to thank everyone for all the kid words & support! When your doing something like this (the money & the complexity) on your own, it is priceless having people to read out to for there advice & others comments along the way, it really reinforces your thoughts, choices & direction. There's nothing worst then spending allot of money, time & work to then have to go back and redo something, so again thanks and keep the comments, questions & suggestions coming.

Re: 2006 Build

So I just happen to go to one of our "pick a part" a few days back and finally SCORED! I found some great things for our build, normally I find nothing or very little but I always hear about these great finds, well this time made up for all the other time combined!

I found a Norcold fridge , could not believe it was there in an camper van that was being junked. I also grabbed it furnace, water tank, inverter, LP tank and a few other goodies.

So now I've been trying to clean everything up and getting it ready to figure out how to start putting the puzzle together (our interior). I will post pictures as soon as I can.

Stay tuned!

Sweet. I always wonder when I see RVs being junked. What did the fridge and stuff set you back?

Re: 2006 Build

It's been a while, not because of a lack of want/need but because of the all important dollar!

We just started and have almost finished our upper bunks, here's some pic's of them.

More updates on these soon, we are also working on getting a few more things in, I.E. Fridge's (2) scored a Norcold 12v Trek (I'll post some pic's soon) from the junk yard & Engel fridge/freezer 2.1 (cubic foot) off craigslist that was on posted portal, then our lower Groucho bed. The Wife has some idea's on how she want's the final set up to be, she's thinking like a "U" shaped Groucho, where the kid will be able to sit around a table all seat belted. We found a place to get the frame and seat belts from but WOW $. then we have to cover it so the whole thing will end up running around $1500. So will go with the strait up "normal" version for now, so we can head out on our trip. But after that we will most likely end up changing.

We are shooting to have most things completed for our trip over Christmas/News Years (more on that later).

I hope everyone had a truly fulfilling Thanksgiving weekend!
