A couple of questions

I was looking at this van on craigslist

http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/cto/4440900485.html

Its far too expensive for me, but it has two things I like.

First is the rear seat arrangement. How to these seats work? What are their dimensions?
Are there seat belts? Do I need seat belts if its registered as an RV

Second, how does the upper bed install? Is it always there? Are there removable boards?

Re: A couple of questions

I have the same dinette setup in my 89 and love it. The seat sections slide to the center and the backs drop down into the space created to form a bed. The width of the seats can vary. Mine are about 43" wide but have seen wider ones. The length across the van body is about 6'. There should be two seat belts on each side.

Re: A couple of questions

Go on Sportsmobile.com and look at their sections for dinette beds and for "Penthouse beds" to see how these function.

In most states, if the vehicle is tagged as an RV or Mobile Home I believe you are not required to have seatbelts for those in the rear of the vehicle. Of course, being required to have seatbelts and it being a smart thing to do regardless are two different things. My SMB dinette setup, similar to that in the photo, has two lap belts on each side, anchored below the dinette.

The PH bed is usually one or two pieces. When not in use it can hang from the ceiling to provide full stand up height. When in "bed mode" it sits on the siderails at the roof of the van, as shown in those photos.

BTW, that's not a bad price for a clean-looking older SMB. If you installed all that stuff yourself you'd be spending a big chunk of change.

Re: A couple of questions

There are other threads on dinettes with measurements. Try searching first.
