Re: ABS problem

As it doesn't seem to affect the function of the ABS, I think I'll decline taking it to Ford. He'll just tell me that it's because of the big tires, or the lift, or because I have a non-stock stereo, or the winch weighs too much. I've learned that Ford is NOT your friend. This will be my last one....

Sounds like you need a different dealer. There's a few up here that sell new 4x4 converted vans and are very mod-friendly.

1st step is to pull the ABS codes when the light is on. There's hundreds of causes for that light. Could be as simple as some too much brake dust on a sensor. Many independent shops can pull the ABS codes too.

If it consistently happens at the same mileage, then I would suspect the it actually is a tire tolerance issue. The vans measure everything in Revs/mile. If revs counted is too different among among corners (and an ABS event hasn't been triggered), the computer probably wants to know why.

Thank you for the good info. I will follow up and see if I can come up with an answer.

Re: ABS problem

Well here I am two years later and still no ABS. I just came from the ford dealer and I just dropped
1,500 dollars and still no ABS. They changed the ECU for the ABS (this is what they tell me), I was told that the 2004 F350 sensors were compatible with my 2008 E350. Must be the speed sensors, has anybody else done this conversion?

Thanks
Rick

Re: ABS problem

Is the van a cargo? Pass? What engine?
