Bumpers in a box

If anyone is wondering how Aluminess ships their bumpers here are a couple pictures of the front and rear bumper they shipped to me. When I picked up the front bumper I was toying with the idea of just putting the bumper in the back of the van. I'm glad I decided to take the trailer. The trailer is 4' X 10' not counting the outriggers I use to haul my cat boat around on.

Front bumper and Nerf Bars

Rear bumper

Rear bumper is going to be installed tomorrow.

Re: Bumpers in a box

There doesn't seem to be much of a demand for van bumpers. I've had mine on craigslist for $50 for two months. I'll probably just recycle it as well.

I sold my take-off bumpers (chrome, in good shape) to a local truck wrecker for $50 each. Cash, no haggling.

Re: Bumpers in a box

I bought the current rear bumper from craigslist for $30. It was one of the chrome ones with the plastic strip. The plastic strip was a little buggered so I pulled it off, rattle canned the chrome away and used little squares of silver reflective tape to cover the holes. I don't think it's worth the cost of shipping to anyone or they could have it for free.

Bumpers in a box

I hope you have some or know some young children that can play in the boxes. It would be a shame to waste them.

The boxes would make killer kid forts without a doubt. You have to cut the box apart to get the bumpers out. The bumpers are bolted to the pallet they are shipped on. The only way to get to the bolts is to swing both swing arms open and open the compartment. To have enough room to get the swing arms to swing you have to remove the sides of the box.

Cudos to Aluminess for their bomber shipping method. I work in the shipping industry and have seen a lot of damage due to flimsy shipping. Aluminess does it the right way. If they were closer I'd buy the guy that builds the boxes a beer!

Re: Bumpers in a box

My Reunel bumper came in the exact same crate style. I met the delivery truck at a local fab shop so that I didn’t have to pay the “Residential Address Fee”.
