Re: Catalytic Space heater vs Furnace...

hmmmm.... maybe a special Aluminess bumper box with a Propex heater and a propane tank mounted inside, and an insulated warm air duct connected to the SMB, only installed when needed?

Just paranoid about combustion-based heaters inside the SMB, especially with my 4 year old son.

I think I'd be more worried about having a pressurized propane tank in a bumper in case someone bumped the bumper a little too hard.

Better in the bumper, than in the vehicle if it happens to get hit in that one particular spot.

Re: Catalytic Space heater vs Furnace...

I'm still analyzing the propex and will let you know. The heat on the smaller one seems adequate but again I havn't had it in cold temps yet. Also I ran it awhile yesterday and it was making some kind of sputtering sounds as it was pushing good heat out. ( nothing too bad) So ?????

Re: Catalytic Space heater vs Furnace...

The sputtering noise (if it occurs) on the propex goes away after the "air" is out of the propane line. I like my propex but I havn't had it in near 0 temps yet.
