Re: Chevy Express Project (Europe, Switzerland)

Hey Herb,

Just pop me a Penthouse top in the post if you would be so kind

Hmmm wonder how much that would cost?

Re: Chevy Express Project (Europe, Switzerland)

Hi Today just built the right side bench.
It was poring with rain which allowed extensive testing of the floor...

Re: Chevy Express Project (Europe, Switzerland)

You should lower the seat height so you have enough head room.

Re: Chevy Express Project (Europe, Switzerland)

Hi,

Yes I could have put the seat lower, but the trouble is the side trim on the left side bulges out meaning the bed would have been too short by about 10 cm. I prefer having a longer bed

I could have stripped out the whole Van and gained height and width but my project has to be "convertible" ... but I will still be giving it some thought

Hmmm maybe the Gnomes did something that I don't know

Re: Chevy Express Project (Europe, Switzerland)

Hurray! I am almost there! Bedding finished (almost) and a bit of furnishing and electrics still to come

Side benches finished, covered in the Vinyl and small wood finishing strip:
(I used some felt to allow a smooth slide of the centre section/table.)

Rear bench sides finished with aluminium beading:

Closer view of the centre section support covered in felt.

Cutting the foam to size, my beloved adjusted the covers to match:

Stanley knife a vital tool...

Cover getting ready to be cut and sown:

Right hand bench finished comfy seating

...different angle...

Bed section including centre section fitted... feel like a nap

Slightly better view of the bed, 6.2 ft not too bad...

Aluminium strip fitted to rear edge of floor:

Re: Chevy Express Project (Europe, Switzerland)

Making curtains, a tough job, more than I expected

My Missus making up the curtains:

Cheap cloth from a local DIY store. Quite nice velour aspect...

Fitted very basic mini curtain rails (aluminium...)
Just screwed them into the plastic trim:

Nice cosy result:

Re: Chevy Express Project (Europe, Switzerland)

If you saved some of the fabric you can make a loop with a snap or velcro to hold back the curtains while they're open. Attach it just outside the window frame to have more viewable window.

Re: Chevy Express Project (Europe, Switzerland)

Hi Jage,
Yup it is planned, I also want to find a way to keep the curtains closer to the window, due to the slight overhang I was thinking of a small bar across the bottom, or maybe popper buttons...
Thanx for the tips

Re: Chevy Express Project (Europe, Switzerland)

How about an elastic band going across on the bottom to keep the curtains close to the window. Got this idea from my 69 VW Westy.
