They don't use less power. In fact they are usually older designs that might use slightly more, with the turntable deleted, but no provisions made to make up for it.

-- if you really want a turntable delete, you'll want a commercial one that ends up rotating internal parts that ends up being even more $$. (But easier to clean and longer service live.)

I went with a cheapy 700W micro, works great, use it all the time.

Brian, if you are interested, I also have another 700W microwave that I bought from another member here for $30...it came out of an SMB.....if you are interested, PM me...it's sitting in my garage. It looks/works fine.

Got my window in behind the driver and also got the surf rack mounted.

Now deciding on if I want to put my maxtrax on the side. Pretty sure I will, just thinking up how I want to put some spacers their to deal wit hthe concavity of the van. Also, deciding which lines on the van to use as a reference, since they aren't parallel and Im ocd like that.

Lol, your wife must have been thrilled.

I don't plan on having a kitchen setup inside the rig, but I may pick up a cheap microwave to stow for those times we have shore power. I do have a 4D battery and a 1000 Watt inverter, so......yeah maybe off the battery too.

Van looks amazing. Who did your pop top canvas??

It is the original canvas that I got off the wrecked SMB i bought it off of. Apparently they did very few black ones, but I really like the look of the black canvas with the black raptor lined fiberglass.

Love the Surf rack, I have been saving up for one for my SUP. How do they do at freeway speed?

Luckily I only have to get on the freeway briefly (2 mi?) to go to my preferred location, but it handled it fine. I am thinking up some way to have some permanently mounted bungees, the racks lacking that is my only complaint.

Also, i added pipe insulation to the racks to soften the ride.

Showed the picture to my wife just to prove I wasn't the only one with those crazy van requests.

Two miles from your place = Basilone exit?

Every post I see with your location makes me think of surfin doughnuts.

Great work on the van.
