Dana 60 posi, spline count question

I'm sure this is a basic question.. But ARB told me they make a air locker for any spline count offered in my Dana 60. But I was told by another person," I need to get new 35 spline axles for my free floater and I probably have 30 spline now".

I know the 35 would be better. stronger. But would a 30 spline work if I didn't run big 33" wheels? what are the limitations to the 30 spline?

This is for my cummins powered 95 E350 tow vehicle.

I'm also trying to decide which locker or limited slip diff I need. I can afford the ARB, but I'm worried about a family member or friend forgetting its turned on and locked.

Thanks

Re: Dana 60 posi, spline count question

Or should I look for a stock limited slip axle which comes with 35sp logs, and maybe 2" wider to avoid E350 wheel spacers?

D70, D80 sterling? How much wider did they make the dually and cutaway axles?

Thanks

Re: Dana 60 posi, spline count question

If you have a semi float D60, ARB is the only choice for a locker. If you have a full float, they have the 32 spline so new shafts are needed to run a 35 spline D60 locker. Simple upgrade.

Re: Dana 60 posi, spline count question

Thanks Chris. Turns out I have 30 spline. BOM and visually checked.

The locker would make my axles the weakest point according to Ox. Who makes 35 spline axles for the E350 D60FF? I cant decide between truetrac or Ox.

You can buy 35 spline axle shafts for the D60FF at NAPA.

For what it's worth I'm a big fan of the TruTrac. I have them both front and back on my 92 E350. You may want to check with Eaton/Detroit but I'm pretty sure the people that did the work on my diffs in my van said TruTracs were available for the Dana 60 in both 30 and 35 splined axles.

Awesome thanks. I called napa and was told $417 per side. wow Ox told me running their diff would require me to upgrade to 35 spline.
Would I have to upgrade the 35 if I choose the TrueTrac?

Yes Im leaning toward the TrueTrac but have heard a few reports after Eaton took over of grinding and popping. Are yours Detroits or the latest Eatons.
