I like the sounds of an insulated pop top- I could come around to a pop top with that!

Say I see you have an Engel- is that their fridge/freezer type?
I am considering one of those, how do you like it? Is it worth the price in your opinion?

Video on CCV's website of the tent canvas in the wind is accurate. Fabric does not flap or move.

The engel is great. Bullet proof and sips power. Just dry camped with just using the remote start/v10 for charge. Engel and fantastic fan perpetual draw. Stock dual battery and single alternator. Watched the volts like a hawk. Running the van 3 times a day stayed 5 days (four nights), Loosing about .5 volts a day ending the last night at 11.0 volts. I believe this Engel draws about .5 amps an hour.

Still have plans for big solar, will get there eventually. No running engine flat like that is not the big plan. It does work for a few days though. Burned through 9 gallons. Could have done it with 1 with a generator. Ordering one BTW.

All that said, it's tough to get 4 days of food and drink for 4 people in there. I might upgrade to a larger size. It's super tight.

I didn't cover it! Hitch. Actually two hitches in the front one for the winch and one for the tire. Took LOTS of fitting and fussing to fit both well.

Maybe I'll do a modness (the blog) on that one.

OK my lag is horrendous, but you asked for a writeup on the front mounted spare, and you got it.

Took a sabbatical from work and had some time for trips and building up the van. For starters here is a recent trip with the family. More build stuff to come.
