First Project on 2010 Homebrew!

Well guys, I have officially broke ground on my first project......the flooring! The first order of business was to do the flooring and add a bench seat and/or a captains chair. I decided to not go with the captains chair after tons of measuring! Thanks to all the guys here and countless threads that I have been going through! Here is what I started out with:

After cleaning up and vacuuming it all out,I decided to cut strips of 1/2" 8lb pad to take up the "dead" space and help with insulation:

After all the pad was put in, I used 11/32" plywood with 1 1/2" screws....I decided to go with carpet tiles for flooring because of the sound deadening, ease of install, durability and plus..I had them already (see screename)

I happen to come across a screaming deal on a bench seat that actually matched my 2 front seats and was vinyl. It also came with all the belts and brackets:

I am finally done with this project and can move on to the next........interior paneling, new awning window, and Transformer style galley!

Transformer style galley in the back then? I noticed you kind of bolted your seat where the galley "should" be.

LOL, that's why I said "style" . Just spent about 2 hours searching through threads, so I might just move the seat back to the second row position? Or just make my "galley" a wee bit smaller?

Re: First Project on 2010 Homebrew!

Your floor looks good. It looks pretty sunny in your neck of the woods. Is this the reason for not much insulation? I'll be installing a sofa bench seat, pretty much in same position. Sofa bench seat is being made. It will be for the kid. I'll post the finish product. ASAP

I have also thought about the Galley being behind the 2nd row seating. Haven't pulled tape on it yet, but I hope to keep this layout. I like the idea of travel seating in the front, Galley in the back and a bed up stairs. Yep, I plan on a ph top. Hopefully get a group sell, if smb does that?

Good Luck with your build, and keep us posted.

Are you talking about floor insulation?

I have not got around to working on the walls yet that is why there is no insulation.....still deciding on what size and where to put my window.

Yeah it seems to me, where I live I would want more floor insulation. (snow country)

Ya, it's never that cold here. I think it has only snowed once here since I have been alive LOL!

I see you're in Tahoe though, so enough said. I try to get out your way at least once a month during the nicer months!
