Frame mounted battery boxes

Does anyone have frame mounted battery boxes on their ford '06(ish)? and if so, are they mounted on the driver or pass side?

I have to two 'econoline' boxes that I want to mount on the driver side, but found that my brake cable runs on the outside of the frame. These boxes almost have a bend in the bracket allowing the cable to move, but it does rub it a little too much for my taste.

I would rather not mount them on the pass side, but may have to.

any thoughts/pics would be very appreciated.

They are designed for the pass side, but I bet if you space them out a little with longer bolts and some washers, you'll be fine. But why are you opposed to the pass side? They fit well there, and that leaves the driver's side open for bulkier installations like an air compressor and 5-gallon tank.

Re: Frame mounted battery boxes

ok, thanks, I will look more carefully on the pass side.

I dont want them on the pass side just because in my build, my inverter and all 120v elec is on the driver side...

I can move it, but will have to completely re-wire it. Possible, but dont really want to.

Re: Frame mounted battery boxes

I have a set of Factory boxes to install in mine bot lookin at them they are pretty big and now I have AMP power steps to deal with. I was thinking about using Dual Optima Batteries in one of these: http://www.ballisticfabrication.com/Bal ... c_174.html

Many thanks. I took another look under the rig today, and I think I may have to mount on the pass side. they should both fit, and ill take a few pics when I get the hardware tomorrow.

It's easy, they fit with spacers.
This is how I did mine.

Are you sure those are 7/16" bolts? They look more like 5/16" or maybe 3/8".

Well, I'm a metric guy, I hate this imperial shit, so maybe I have it wrong. But, if I measure the bolt the same way I would a metric bolt, it's 7/16. So the absolute outside thread diameter (pitch to pitch) is 7/16, or just larger than a M11 bolt.
Let me know if I have it wrong, as I'll update the post.
