Greetings,
Reading through this thread two things came to mind i'll share : ) And hope you have an enjoyable time of research and dreaming/scheming!
The first thing was sharing a link to a site I've followed since reading the webmaster's ebook "Vanabode" at
vanabode.com. He recently sent out an addendum to all purchasers of an 18 week trip he and his wife took exploring the east coast with the same tips/tricks he shares in his ebook. For me and my wife it was a few well spent bucks and highly recommend it. Basically he suggests a regular cargo van with nothing outside that screams THIS IS AN RV. He has a regular chevy cargo van with only windows on back doors. Not for everybody, but it works for he and his wife on extended journeys.
The other is that I would do a cargo van again on Van 2 if there is one. Our van
began as a stock chevy cargo van with glass only on the curb slider and rear barn doors. It is also
my wife's DD and she luvs it. Also, a cargo van will be easier IMO to insulate and for privacy sake.
Best wishes on the future build and welcome to the forum.
OH, one last thought as I type, there is a forum (in addition to the one at vanabode site) that focuses on utilizing various rigs as a base of operations. I have gleaned lots of useful information from the site and the forum. Check out the "VanDweller Community" at
cheaprvliving.com
I have no affiliation with any of the sites I suggested...they are simply some of the best for answering the how-to of the lifestyle.
Cheers,
Thom
