BenJJ, fwiw I passed on three perfect low mile '03s, the first for $8,700, the second for $10K and the third for $14K. (Notice the trend.) Then I was super stoked to find a "bargain" '99 in FL (sight unseen) for $4900.
Suffice to say the hemorrhaging began long before it made it to CA. I'm in it for $7K already and it still leaks a quart of oil every 200 miles. It also needs a right rear axle seal, and basically a body swap as almost every panel is dented, the roof has lots of rust, and the floor looks like a strongman used it for keg toss practice.
$13.5 is market for a good 7.3 these days. Blame #vanlife and don't look back.
