How practical is it to recycle a hi top from old van?

Subject pretty much says it all. Am I asking for trouble and headaches if my plan is to find an old junk van with a high top (not pop top) and try to remove the top and put it on another van?

I know some of those adhesives are pretty hard core. Has anyone done this before? Can the tops be removed easily without damage? I'm probably not as worried about damage to the van as I am damage to the top.

This guy does it as part of his business and I'm sure he can help with information and tips.

Re: How practical is it to recycle a hi top from old van?

I just posted in the other thread so i will not repeat myself but if your lucky enough to find a top to fit your van at a local yard they can usually be had from as little as 25 bucks to 2 or 3 hundred saving you a lot of money. It can totally be worth it. Most junk yards want between 50 to 100 dollars for them but they usually need to be repainted and cleaned up. When I can get used ones I do and I pass the savings on to my customers.
