Worked with a friend today to fab up my 4D battery tray. Still have more to do on it but you get the idea.

The 7.3L produces a lot of heat and although it hasn't run hot, the under hood temps get very hot, especially when going slow in 4wd. The heat transmitted through the doghouse is pretty considerable too. The fender vents give the hot air somewhere to go. Not sure if they work at speed but they definitely do when going slow with the engine fan engaged.

Agree, and they should help when cooling down (stopped, but still idling) which is beneficial for the turbo.

Saline- Nice work on the van.
How did you go about attaching the galley box to the barn door?

For the galley box on the door I put 1" aluminum flat stock both between the box and the door as well as on the inside of the door. This provides a lot more strength to the mounting and disperses the stress of the added weight.
I used 8 small bolts with nylock nuts to secure it to the door.

Made the trek to Fiberine in Long Beach a few days ago. After much consideration of some pretty good options that were closer I opted to go with Fiberine because of install and the options of wood reinforcements and windows. I appreciate the input from others on this board.

My experience thus far has been positive and I enjoy being able to stand up! Already spent time with it in Mojave NPR and Death Valley.
