I a 14" x 14" fan for the van but realized that there are some huge ridges on top of the metal. Does anyone have some experience with putting these in, and where best to place it? I saw some solar powered versions that are round and seem to take a 4.5" hole, anyone have experience on how they work? Seem like they would fit easier. My van is an ex 15 seater so I also have the air conditioning ducts to avoid.
I can show you photos of my install, but I didn't put it in. You also might consider a fantastic fan window unit, I've heard they are pretty good esp. if you don't want to put holes in the van.
Thanks for the photo's jage. It looks like a bunch of epoxy was used to fill in the gaps. Anyone have an idea of what is best to use? My van is white. I also heard of a smaller fan on another post for the roof that may be better. I'll search for the fantastic window fan to see what that is about.
Hey All,
Does anyone have a link or know of a place to get a smaller roof vent? (smaller tan 14"). I really want to put in a roof vent / fan but I am having second thoughts about cutting such a large hole in the roof for the one I just bought. It's the standard roof with all the ridges. I don't mind a little filler, but it seems best to place two small versions than one big? Also, what is best for filler, fiberglass only or does silicon work?
West Marine has some small vent fans that run off solar or can be hardwired (12 V) Some are stainless and can be run either to suck air in or exhaustl it. Or, get two and do both...
www.westmarine.com model #183733 or: model #7868516 or: model#6775944 or finally: model # 489856
Plus they have a bunch more of various sorts.

I thought I'd post here so as not to create a new thread. Does anyone have a link for a fantastic fan window fan? I've googled it a few ways and can only find fans that mount on the roof.
I would recommend looking at the amount of air that can be drawn through the various roof vents you are looking at. The Fantastic Fan Vent is a very impressive product. Can move a lot of air, 3+ speeds, and at the lower speeds is very quite.

I have the portable. Puts out a bunch of air and really does not pull much, about 3 amps on high. I have found I rarely use a fan but when I need one it's priceless. I'm sure others who frequent humid or hot areas would find some type of fan useful. I avoid hot climates.
