Lizard Skin Installed...

Thought I'd share a quick first impression of the Lizard Skin combo (Sound Control and Ceramic Insulation).

I did the spray over the last couple days and drove it today to get a smog for tomorrow's dreaded trip to the DMV for registration.

Anyway, here's my thoughts:

1. This is a horrible project for your driveway.

2. I am a horrible painter.

3. You really need a big compressor, my 20gal couldn't keep up real well.

4. Keep the little container full because once it's empty and starts blowing air it clogs up.

5. Clogs suck!

6. Clogs are messy to deal with.

7. I suck at this.

8. Overspray sucks!!!

9. My compressor is loud.

10. It's really LOUD.

So yeah, in all seriousness I will say now that all is said and done and stains set in on the driveway this stuff is pretty rad. It really quieted down the bare inside of the van quite noticeably. And the roof and bare walls as felt from the inside that are normally very hot to touch in the 90+ degree sun we have is now only slightly warm.

Thought I'd have this done in a day. Not even close. At least a day to tape and clean. Then it took me about 2hrs to spray the entire van followed by an hour and half rest break (they recommend 30-60min between coats). Then another 2hrs for the second coat. They also recommend 24-36hrs dry time between the sound control and ceramic insulation. I rested the next day and on the 4th day I did the two coats of the ceramic insulation.

I had 8 gallons of each (4 two gallon buckets) of both the sound control and the ceramic insulation. This is for the RB and it was nearly the perfect amount. If you have an EB I would get an extra two gallon bucket of each at least.

Would I do it again? NO WAY. I wouldn't do this again myself, but I might have someone do it for me, lol. This stuff is pretty rad.

What did you do for surface prep? I'm starting the prep for this stuff on my van tomorrow.

My van is in pretty good shape inside so I didn't need to do much prep so I just cleaned really well, and although I should have scuffed up the surface I didn't. Turned out pretty good for the most part but if I was gonna do it again I'd make sure to scuff it up a bit .

Lol
That's how I feel every time I do something involved with paint.
I helped a buddy spray in a bed liner is his jeep a while back. Removed everything, masked, sanded, cleaned, mixed, sprayed etc. What a mess!! Cleaning the paint gun and lines, bed liner on everything. Tons of time. It was nice! But so much work.

Glad to hear you're happy with the end result. But it makes me re-think my plan. Maybe spray cans aren't that bad! I just want to spray the under side to prevent corrosion and cut down on road noise.

PS there is never a good place to spray products like that!
