New Van & New Member

Just bought a 1987 Ford E250 4x4 van that I will be converting into an adventure van. Was cruising the net and came across the Sportmobile forum and thought I would join and say hello. I am planning on the same type build that Zaskoda is doing with his Polar Bear 1 build. I have the same Van minus the windows. In the three days I have owned it I have already replaced the windshield, put new windshield wipers on, put a new steering wheel on, fixed the slider handle, replaced the tail lights, removed the interior, cut some rust from the front floor and welded in patch panels then used truck bed liner on the floor. I found a guy parting his van and bought lots of parts from him, I ordered American Racing Mojave teflon coated wheels which will be here tomorrow and am having a new set of Goodyear Wranglers installed, tomorrow I am going to look at a front winch bumper, going to have the wheels put on and going to look at some seats I found on craigslist. it's been a busy 3 days! .....and I haven't even titled it yet!
Get er done!

"I've replaced the head twice and the handle three times... I've had this hammer for 30 years" unknown

At what point does your '87 become a 2011 van?

Enjoy the addiction!

Welcome to the forum! We can always use more PNW'ers.

What engine and 4x4 system does the van have? It sure looks like it should go anywhere.

Re: New Van & New Member

It has the fuel injected 300 6 cylinder with the C6 Trans. I'm still researching who did the conversion, it looks exactly like Zakodas's Polar Bear 1 build and I am hoping he can shed some light on the manufacturer of the conversion. Went to pick up the new 16 inch American Racing Teflon wheels today and they didn't fit, they hit the calipers so they sent them back and re ordered 17 inch wheels, now I have to wait another week for them to ship.

Welcome to the forum!
At quick glance I did a double-take, thinking what type of homemade roof is that!

Enjoy your project and post photos as you go along.
