PLATFORM BED

Hi:

Installing a TEMPORARY platform bed with open storage for 6 storage containers underneath. I used 2 pieces of 6" oak bolted to the interior side walls. I added the proper length of E-Ttrack screwed to the oak.

Six of the e track brackets provided support for the 3 2 X 4's placed crosswise with 2 pieces of birch plywood for the base. I used 2 pieces as it is easier to get it in and out of the van since it is temporary. It ended up giving me a 4"X 5' 9" bed size.

JoAnn Fabrics had a sale on 6' X 2' X 5"thick foam and 2 pieces fit the platform perfectly with slight trimming on the length.

I will put more pics in my gallery as the Loncoin flooring, microwave, and stereo are added.

Thanks for all the advice and sage wisdom of the Forum members who have answered my questions thus helping me reach my goal.

I am eventually having an EB50 layout but that is next years project.

I am taking off for Wyoming in July and Colorado in August. That's 2 months on the road for my first serious trip. If I had one wish it would be that the engine ran on water rather than gas.

Re: PLATFORM BED

Looks good and still room for your bike inside! Nice. Just an FYI for your trip, I just got back from our typical 5000+/- mile West summer trip. I spent about $1500 on gas. I have a 5.4 and get about 14 avg. out there in the big mountains. It's worth it though. We spent about $250 on lodging in 15 days. One night in a motel, 12 nights at least camping and many were free. I would take along a solar shower. the only thing that ties us to civilization is trying to get a shower every couple of days, but with so much less humidity, it's not that bad. Rivers are plentiful too!

Keep us posted on your adventure!
