push out van windows

whatever happened to pushout van windows? my dad had a late 70's early 80's chevy van and the rear and 60/40 windows could unlatch and push out. hinged at the top.

why arent i seeing windows like this? does anyone know of a manufacturer that makes them for 2003 express?

i already have the all glass look windows and i found a nice 32x18 with a hinged window running horizontal in the matching all glass look but what about rear and side 60/40 doors?

i checked one of the threads here for a site that had everything but what i was looking for. only fixed windows for the rear and 60/40

cr laurence doesnt seem to have them either. did they fall out of favor for some reason?

Re: push out van windows

Ford is the same way. I've got 1 of 2 in the back and one of my side doors plus an extra set. Older vans have them all around. Don't know the reason.

Re: push out van windows

My 2008 Ford (and probably all Fords going back to 1992?) has push-out glass on the 60 portion of the side doors. Would be nice on the 40 portion, as well, but for some reason it is not available. Not sure about Chevy.

Push-out glass in the rear doors was eliminated due to concerns of exhaust (CO) entering the cab while driving. Too bad it's still not offered to smart people to use while parked. Not sure when this change happened - you can still find rear push-out glass in boneyards occasionally.

Cheers,
Brent

Re: push out van windows

I've seen the 40 split on older vans (pre 1990ish?) and I have one with really bad tint that I'd like to use myself.

That makes two of us. I'm wondering how the van would look with just the one tinted window.

Re: push out van windows

My 2005 Express has the push-out windows for the 60/40 doors but they open from the side. Its good when driving down the road to not have rain, etc. fly in the window but not good when parked and its raining out. The rain comes right in the gap at the top.

My rear doors have push-outs that latch at the bottom.

Re: push out van windows

Yes the Chevy have the latch but it doesn't open very far...
Anyone try and open them wider?

Re: push out van windows

Just installed pop outs on my rear doors. One of the best things I have done for air flow while parked.
