Rim Cleanup?

The rims on the "new to me van" have a good amount of rust/corrosion. Polishing the face of the rim seems to be going ok but the holes have some deep pitting in them. Thinking about using some 400 or so grit to knock down the bulk of the pitting and move to polish.

Thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks

Re: Rim Cleanup?

That should do it. It looks like brake dust deposits. Some stronger brake dust removers may also work.

PS - don't use surfactants like simple green on AL rims. It can cause pitting.

Re: Rim Cleanup?

Good to know about simple green!

I'll try the brake dust remover first. Should take less time.

Thanks for the advice!
