Re: Road Trip must haves?

How about High lift Jack, full size shovel and 2x6 blocks of wood. My last trip involved all of these, after I blew a tire, and then 2 hrs later buried the rear axle in sand(more like flour) at 11:30pm.Thank god I was prepared!

Re: Road Trip must haves?

I bought a few extra spot lights that are rechargeable and also plug into the cigarette lighter.
The served me well when I lost my headlights at night for some reason. I was still able to keep on the road. One of the spot lights had the magnetic base that allowed me to put it on the roof metal
to keep it steady.

Also, they sell little solar kits that will power up all kinds of equipment that does not require a hugh charge. Like cell phones and such.

Camp Suds
A biodegradable soap for dishes, shower, shampoo and makes the gray water biodegradable. ( Using Dr. Bronners for shampoo makes a tangled mess for me. )

Re: Road Trip must haves?

I agree with Angel that Dr. Bronner's doesn't work on long hair. Though I read somewhere (I think on this forum) that showering with the Peppermint scented one can be quite exhilarating...

I know what you mean, Nomadcat. That Gerlach-Suphur road got one of my tires with a sharp rock deeply embedded in my tire.

But, a 2nd spare? Where do you put it? Under the van? I don't see one in your van photos.

Me, I just turn around and carefully head for the nearest town when I get a blown tire that can't be patched. Almost always I can patch the tire.

X2 For the Camp Suds!
I also carried a second spare tire (Tire only - No Rim) on a trip I took, I got lucky and never had to use either one. It went to good use, a few trips later I put sharp rock in the deep mud through the center of the tread.

Road Trip must haves?

Binoculars, bungees, bedding, bug spray, clean windows inside and out, water, beer for stops, whatever the SO needs, and whatever else you think I left out.
