Road Trip must haves?

I'm planning a road trip for me and my wife in our recently Home built 05 e350 EB. Planning on leaving Portland in April and traveling around the country and back in 3 months. Any suggestions for must haves on the road would be helpful. Thanks.

Re: Road Trip must haves?

AAA Card.

Good set of maps.

Local guidebooks, AAA books are OK.

Cellphone.

Good set of tires.

InterAgency Pass for all National Parks/Historic Sites

Good set of walking shoes.

Sunscreen.

Insect repellant.

2 Credit Cards

Wifi laptop to pay bills.

A sense of adventure. Remember the destination is only a goal. You will find better things to see and do along the way. If you don't make it to the destination, there is always next time!

Re: Road Trip must haves?

I like to take a good set of walking or hiking shoes, a day pack, and a water bottle for some long day hikes. Maybe some binoculars.

Sounds like you already have the most important item covered.

Abundant time!

On all my road trips, that is always what I wish I had more of.

Enjoy the trip.

These documents should be kept in your glovebox:

Living Will

Health Care Directives

Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care

Copies of Insurance Cards

Emergency contact numbers

Re: Road Trip must haves?

Mac, that's a sobering, but good list. Thanks for that one.

I also second the portable wifi card or device. After that, in no particular order:

2 spare tires
Plenty of refrigerator food to grab
Good tools
Sunglasses and replacement eyeglasses (mine flew off my head once getting onto the interstate near Flagstaff. it was user error)
Cellphone headset
Cameras
Good pocket knife
Boonie hat
Shovel and recovery gear
iPhone beyond useful
A real road atlas. I have my preferences here
No-spill dog water bowl

I'll think of more later.

Road Trip must haves?

ARB Tire Repair Kit. On our last trip I used the kit to repair a flat by following the included directions with zero previous experience.

It has been nearly a year and the repair is still holding like a champ!
