Safari Rack and Solar Idea

Kicking around some ideas for a roof rack. Obviously just relenting to aluminess is never a bad idea but I have some other thoughts.

First thought is to run T-Slot Channels along the outer edge of the pop top. Mount them with screws and some butyl tape. Maybe something like this:

Easy enough to fasten and then you have something universal to work with. You can add crossbars or anything else really.

Thinking about a rack I came across this surco safari rack. Pretty light and would be easy to lay on the tracks or get new crossbars for and alter. 50" wide x 72" Long. Rack weighs 36 lbs. Pretty light. Would need some kind of floor though, they do make a kit.

That would still leave me plenty of space up front to lay in two solar panels.

Thinking that I could probably get the whole setup including solar panels done for about 1000 bucks.
