Maybe they'll move separately with a little more force, I've been cautious, not wanting to snap any pieces of 16 year old brittle plastic that may be holding them in place. With the main mirrors optimally positioned, the lower mirrors actually don't line up to be super useful. If you do move your head around a little, they can be super helpful when getting close to a curb when parallel parking.
On the subject of the dual element mirrors---frankly they simply suck. I've swapped both my '03 and '05 mirrors for the 2007 and later single piece versions. Along with an NAPA spot mirror #7048D each side they provide much better rear view vision.

I also installed these things: https://www.amazon.com/Auxiliary-Mir...s%2C165&sr=8-2 They work very well in place of the NAPA spot mirrors, installed on the bottom of the OEM mirror housing, no obscuring of vision over and around the stock housings.

On the right side mounted low they can't be seen very well from the driver's seat. They would probably work very well mounted high but to my eye would look wonky.

Going waaaaaaaay hi tek with the newer rear and side view camera systems like this one: https://www.rearviewsafety.com/safet...770616-nm.html

Just something to consider............

Yeah I like the one with the secondary mirror at the bottom.

JWA that camera system is pretty fancy.

I added these blind spot mirrors onto my '06 tow mirrors.

My 2010 has the ones with the blind spot mirror on the top quadrant. I like them, they are better than the single glass I had on my 2000. i do not think I look at the little mirror much, but i guess the peripheral vision gets a glance of something moving there.
