Re: SOCAL build
Thanks, it is coming along! None stop, one thing after another but learning a lot and having fun oooohh and passing something on to the younger generation, they watch, ask questions and laugh. Staying in budget is tricky and keep quality up is another chore but so far so good. Thanks again for watch and posting.

Re: SOCAL build
Picked up the rack, he did a nice job. Will prime, paint and mount the solar panel this weekend. Sometime next week the roof racks will be in, it is rated for 800lbs. Next problem is getting this on top of the van.
That is the bumper in the back ground, will get the final coat on that as well.

Re: SOCAL build
Rack bars finally came in. Rated for 800lbs. Might add a third.
Next was finding square u-bolts, I can tell you everywhere not to buy them. Finally found them after 5 stores and 2 hours. Bought the small ones first then on the way home thought I should go buy longer ones incase the short ones don't fit which they didn't. Got frustrated, called my Dad so he could laugh and he reassure me it wont be the last time something like this happens.
Cover the square u-bolts in shrink tube instead of painting. This is all test fitted.
Bought some weather striping to go around the solar panel.
Got the solar panel LED lights test fitted as well. Took everything off and touched up the holes I drilled with some paint.
Next is trying to figure out how to get it on the roof.

Re: SOCAL build
I will cut the bolts down once it is up. Just a test fit will add locking washers.

Re: SOCAL build
LED light on rear, still have one to mount on the side, drill battery died. Pretty sure I am going to add a third bar so will drill the holes for that as well.

Re: SOCAL build
Very cool! I like that rack a lot!! How many Solar panels will you be mounting? Just the one? If not will you be able to use the rack for other items or just to hold the panels?

Re: SOCAL build
Thanks!
Just the one, I don't have a lot to power. If at some time I need more I have room for more.
