Re: The Family Conestoga

Roonie, yeah i know. I've thought of that from the start. That looks like a good one on Amazon, but not sure yet, I might build one instead. I've tried to move mine around but it wouldn't be very easy to move even if the handle was cut. That cable is incredibly tight even though it doesn't look that way. I can't move it side to side at all. Someone would make a lot of racket trying to get it off of there, and i don't leave it on anywhere unsafe.

Locks are for honest people. If someone brings a saw, time and wants your generator that bad, they'll get it.

Re: The Family Conestoga

Short of carrying your tall ladder with you, how do you plan to get access to the roof box?

That's the challenge I hit: I can put my side opening roofbox on the YakRack with raingutter towers, but then there's absolutely no way to reach up into it (at least, if your 5'7" tall).

Cheers,
GreyDawg

Re: The Family Conestoga

It is a challenge...............without one of these. Best $125ish I've spent (for a home OR car 'tool') in a long time.
These little ladders really are cool, and stores away small.

Re: The Family Conestoga

Well, the progress has resumed. I just talked to Derek at Colorado Camper Van and lined up my pop-top install. I'm taking my van to him in May and will be able to enjoy a real bed and storage up top by the time my summer trip gets here!
Here's the layout: Extended TV top, similar to Coguzzi's top, just longer. I chose this over a Sportsmobile top because it's so high when raised and Derek is doing pop tops with higher fiberglass tops. I don't know why Sportsmobile will only do a top with the one, flat style roof. I really need the storage and headroom while the top is down! I'm also very impressed with Derek's work.
OK, extended TV-style pop top, unfortunately in primer gray because I can't afford to do this all at once, so I will be painting it myself ASAP, Yakima tracks on top for my box, Fantastic Fan and LED lights in the roof.
I'm super excited.
I also recently finally found some seats and am mounting them this weekend so pics to follow. Also, got my DVD/backup camera Pioneer head unit, and am experimenting with an overhead shelf up front where the sun visors mount.
I have also narrowed down my home-build floor plan to probably the EB31 or EB70, both of which are 4 capt. chair setups, one with a dinette in the back plus cabinets/counters up the sides and one with a jackknife bed on one side and cabinets/counters on the other.
