This is tempting...

For sale near me. Ditch the flares, running boards. Re-config the sewer drain. Ship to SMB West for a 4x4 conversion:

Re: This is tempting...

Is that a EB 7.3L Powerstroke diesel? If so, I would be very tempted too.

Re: This is tempting...

Call SMBW before you jump on it - they generally won't convert used vans. You send it to QuadVan for conversion.

Looks nice!

Buy, drive East, drop at UJOR, drive back West, life is good!

Cheers

Re: This is tempting...

Having SMB-W do the conversion was a bit tongue-in-cheek but it would be my first choice. I actually live in MI so it would make sense for Chris at UJOR to do the swap.

When I showed my wife, she rolled her eyes and said "that's a beauty, Clark." She didn't think I was serious...it's funny: when I first brought up the Sportsmobile, she rolled her eyes then and chuckled at the 35" tires and "lack" of amenities. Now she'd rather have a lifted 4WD van with a porta-potti than be caught dead in a true Class B with stripes on the sides. Hmm...I don't get it.

I don't know which engine this van has. It's a '98 with 58,000 miles. The seller is asking $10,600. It's super clean, too. I don't think it's a 7.3.

To be continued. I've got to brush up on my negotiating skills...

Re: This is tempting...

I think it is a 7.3. Zoom in, isn't that a Powerstroke V8 sticker on the side?

Re: This is tempting...

I think it says "Triton V8." Isn't "Powerstroke" highlighted in red on the diesels?

Re: This is tempting...

Take the running boards off and install some black Bushwacker Fender Flares, an Agile Off-Road long travel 4X4 system and wheels and tires and that would be an awesome van/camper. I have been looking for just the right one of these closer to San Diego.

We are converting a JayCo right now that looks very similar, but is a shorter RB day camper.

I'm partial to leaf springs. Totally doable on this rig.

Re: This is tempting...

Another fellow Michigander. LenS an myself are the only other ones from MI I see. PM me if you are in SE MI. I have a 2wd hightop but would let your better half crawl around in it if she wants to see one live. There is a bit more dog hair in mine than others as my setters think it is their luxury kennel. All of the people that have ever taken a close look at the ice-cream van end up really liking it. I need to pull the trigger on some u-joint goodies soon and then it will transform.
