TWO underfloor storage Boxes one EB van!!!

Greetings Sportsmobile fans! Just thought I would add a thread on my custom build underfloor storage boxes (made by a member here....can't remember his member name) But thought I would show my install of TWO underfloor storage boxes in a Extended Body VAN!!! IT CAN BE DONE!!! You will have to cutout and replace a frame support and move it more forward on the frame to accommodate the rear box as well as remove the spare tire mount. But it all Worked GREAT!

Starts out like something like this, very interesting picture here.....

then start will two beautifully built aluminum boxes,
Specs: DON'T TAKE MY EXACT WORD FOR SIZES, I WILL NEED TO CONFIRM

FRONT BOX(closer to rear doors):
14" wide x 17" deep x 32" built out of .125" 5052 alu. Cut opening 14" x 24"
1" vertical flange around opening.

REAR BOX:
15"wide x 15" deep x 32" built out of .125" 5052 alu. Cut opening 12" x 24"

Then start cutting away!

Mount and set in place, I used 1/2 grade 8 bolts through the boxes

Look from Underneath

ENJOY!!!

Geeze, I was feeling sorry for myself laying in the driveway on cement while working on the van, but it looks like your working on ice, so I feel better, thanks. I love the install, but I'm afraid I'd overload my van even more with all that storage. How did you re-install the cross bracing, welding or bolts?

Excellent and well done.
Is that the stock exhaust or a bigger one? (Looks awfully close)

Diamond eye 4". Its not to close, haven't had any issues with it at all. Only thing I would recommend is not try this with a Stock van without a lift kit (this has a ujoint 6" and plenty of room) lol I would imagine it could drag if you didn't have a lift.....

yes it was quite the freezing project lol, luckily this was last year so Ive warmed back up by now! unfortunately I installed a CCV top and now a few inches too tall to get in my shop now... But it had to be done

I use one for all my extra filters, belts, jumper cables, fluids etc. pretty much my emergency storage. I wouldn't load a ton into them, mostly supplies stowed away to get them out of the main area. But it doesn't hurt that I have 1.5 ton rear end springs.

The Frame rail rivets were blown off and we moved the support forward like 12" bolted with grade 8 bolts. Its hasn't been an issue and really probably better support, but I also have aluminess rear bumper with a pretty burly hitch setup that reinforces the frame rails really well back there.

Ive found just cutting the rivets in half with a grinder and then hammering them with an air hammer and a chisel works decently, but make sure you sharpen the chisel.

I had the pleasure of not having to do it! lol went into a local exhaust place and they did it for me as well as adjusted my exhaust pipe position to get it more out of the way

Is it just me or is that rear box sitting lower on the right side? In either case, nice work in some extreme conditions. I don't even like working on my van when it get in the 50's.
