Underfloor storage

I wondered if anyone had considered using stainless steel buffet line trays for underfloor compartments? They come in different depths and sizes and have a nice flange for mounting. Looking at my frame and floorboards I see several spots where I could cut a opening and slide a round or rectangular tray in there.

Slightly OT...

I've considered the stainless buffet line trays as a dry shelf in my cooler. My plan is/was to glue in some ABS bars to the interior cooler walls to support the tray......or even fancier, slotted ABS bars to act as rails and slide in the tray. (The trays area would be less than 1/2 of the cooler area looking down from the top). That way I could use a really deep tray and not worry about it floating when the ice melted.

.......project #58......
