Weird question... Power mirror install?

Looking to get the Ford Trailer Tow mirrors like on the Superduty trucks. However, the mirrors on my van are non powered and wanted to see if there is a process or someone that has converted non powered to powered mirrors.

I assume I need the switch panel from a truck/van that has powered mirrors, but what about the wiring and the needed connections?

Anyone done this or am I just being silly to want to convert? I can always buy the powered Tow mirrors and just manually adjust like currently, but power is nice when it is raining and snowing!

Re: Weird question... Power mirror install?

Since you picked up a wagon, all the wiring should be there already. You just need the mirrors and a switch with trim panel. It's pretty much plug and play.

But I highly recommend putting on the telescoping trailer tow mirrors. These are made for the the '03+ vans, which have a different bolt pattern and plug shape. This means you will have to bust out a drill, and re-pin the connector. There's some old threads on this upgrade in the Van Body forum.

Re: Weird question... Power mirror install?

What year is your van, there may also be physical mounting issues (3 bolt on earlier vans, 4 bolt on later)?

If the pigtails and everything are there and I simply need the mirrors and switch, that's easy enough.

Re: Weird question... Power mirror install?

I swaped to the tele late non-powered mirrors and even when pulled out find I do not need to re adjust. Power only allows you to adjust easy and you still need to pull to the tow position by hand. usful with multipul drivers but not needed on a single (pretty much) driver van IMO.
