1973 SMB classic $7995

Hi;

Check out this beautiful example of 1970's styling. Great shape too.

Not bad at all, though I do wish it had a Cummins in it.

Re: 1973 SMB classic $7995

Where (How like with what search engine) do you find all this stuff Gavin?
Its a cool old van and it looks like its been well loved. That must be a very early Sportsmobile right?
I always liked those old pre 1974 Dodge Metal grills especially in Aluminum.

So Gavin, master of all things Dodge have you ever seen a van with a modified (longer, maybe narrower too or just something custom) rear door installed as an extra side jump door? Might be cool on a cargo van but its a bit odd on a window van. One of my van friends from NY was on a trip in CO and saw that thing last week, he sent it to me and I thought of you.

Re: 1973 SMB classic $7995

Hi;

Jamie I use Google for all my searches. I get better results by using it's news alert feature. It will send me an email any time a key word pops up anywhere on the web. Day after day after day.

I do like that aluminum grill though. Hard to keep straight for all these years.

The van you posted is a 4x4 94-97 one ton. The extra door is a right sight cargo door as the rear doors are shorter to clear the bumper. Someone has welded in the frame and strike plate from another van along with the step up to the floor. I like it. I doubt it was done at the factory as it is now a "suicide" door on the traffic side. Too much liability. I also wonder about the strength of a unibody van with yet another hole in the exterior skin.

I searched the van's company name, on Google, and found a photo of the other side. Nothing differing from factory there. It would make a great candidate for Derek's CCV top!

I have to focus on getting this project rolling so please no more diversions...

Regards,

Gavin
