1998 Ford E250 - Price seem good?

Hi,

I'm new on this forum and was hoping you folks could tell me if this 1998 Ford E250 is priced fairly. We're planning on driving today 350 miles to look and hopefully purchase it. Let me know what you think. My sister just looked at it and she says it's looks almost new condition:

1998 Ford E250 V-8 Triton $21,500 OBO

Made at the local Fresno Sportsmobile

2WD- Great on gas!!! (just got 18 mpg on trip to southern california)
Perfect shape -

* Unique Sliding Side Door- Great Picture window!
Takes Regular glass
Comfortable ride - sweet stereo (5 speakers wit remote)
New tires, new battery

Thanks!

The answer is:

If you want it, get it!

You can't build it and you won't find it again (prolly)

So, yeah it is worth doing if you are gonna have ???? later.

I love my SMB (see forum post "TGTBT")

The price seems a little high. But, I can't tell the condition or mileage or care it has received from here.

You couldn't build one for the price. Twogone is probably right. If it is the van you want, go for it! If it is just something you think you could live with, but not ideal, then either offer less or wait for one you really want.

Re: 1998 Ford E250 - Price seem good?

Mental note, take photos with fisheye when selling. It looks freaking huge inside

It's a very basic build especially considering the price:
Missing the porta potti and door to the porta potti storage (where the tub is)
No appliances (hot water/furnace) looks like just propane for the stove
Built in cooktop over the "big drawer" not sure how that works with the stove hanging down/heat
Sliding door means no door pantry, which IMHO the best feature of my van
No long shelf over the counter
No underfloor storage unit
No water...
NO SINK!

It does have a good stance for a 2wd, and some people love the sliding door over the barn doors. But the more I look the more seems like it's missing, I'd be surprised if there were an inverter although there is a 110v system and shore power.

Is it an electric penthouse top, or manual?

Our van is built like that. No heat comes from the bottom of the stove, and it only hangs down about 2" - does not interfere with the drawer.

Re: 1998 Ford E250 - Price seem good?

Seems like the price is a little high but it's hard to find these used for a reasonable price. A furnace installation will be $1500 - 2000 which I think is a necessity.

I wouldn't count on the 18 mpg either. More like 14 mpg. Unless it has the 4.6 liter engine, which won't have adequate power.

Re: 1998 Ford E250 - Price seem good?

sounds way high to me, I saw a 2000 Dodge SMB with 75000miles in great shape for $7200. a steal but I wanted the gaucho bed, don't care for that floorplan. it was on the craigs list section of the forum, a week ago or so. 2wds seem to be pretty cheap once they get 10 years old.
