At the current ~$5k, this is an incredible deal. Located in Santa Anna, CA, less than 24 hours left. Auction house selling it seems to be legit - has tons of sales, detailed report of condition, and a 15 day guarantee. I'm in no way affiliated... just super curious to see what this goes for as it's close to my dream platform (if only I had the cash and time). I did message them and they said the box has 6'8" interior standing room.
Always thought a power liftgate like that would be handy in so many ways - Just getting in and out, keeping you off the ground while taking an outside shower, loading & unloading Bikes, and serving as a small outdoor porch.
I love that platform as well. The only negative thing I will say though is that having no pass through between the cab and box is a bummer. I wonder if that could be added...
You definitely can - I've seen a few builds that have built the pass-through. I think the hardest is getting a seal between the cab and box that is both watertight and flexible.
The only downside I see with these utility box setups is all of the exterior-access boxes. Some would be useful, but I'd definitely want to close some up to free up space on the interior. Not sure how tedious cutting those out/welding them shut would be.
Cool, it's a cutaway so no back window or OEM metal wall to cut out. Probably wood, fiberglass or thinner than OEM metal. A sawzall and 2 beers are likely all you need.
