2008 Chevy Express 3500

Saw this on CL. $10,000, extended length, 3" lift by Boulder Off Road, 33" tires. 175000 miles curls be a problem.

That's a sweet van, but a little generous on the fuel mileage IMO. My 6.0 crew cab truck (probably lighter) got about 12...........always.

Nice van though!

I'd say something was wrong with your CCSB if you were getting 12. I averaged high teens with my 2005 Crew Cab Sierra.

With a 6.0? Or did you have a 5.3? I know the 5.3s get great MPGs but I've never heard of a 6.0 getting anywhere near that.

My 6.0 2500 with a popup camper averaged 16 over 80,000 miles. Our 4.8 1500 got 16.5 under the same conditions.

Wow, I seem to be in the minority here. Mine was a great truck, but never got good mileage, and lots of construction guys I know drive them and they always complained of the same. Perhaps it's a heavy foot thing.........hmmmmm.........

Re: 2008 Chevy Express 3500

Yeah, regarding the van....it seems all the big gasses get real great mileage.....when they are up for sale! Not knocking the 6.0 Chevy tho cause I have that in my camper van and in my 4WD truck.

As far as Scotty and his mpg, he may have a truck like mine.....it's an 03 K-2500 HD short bed ex-cab with the 6.0 gasser, and it maaaaay hit as hi as 15 hwy empty, being driven gently.

But ya see, many of these heavier trucks have NO overdrive gear, so they do get less mpg on the hwy. The thing is, they are made to do hard work and haul sh*t, so you'd just screw up their trannies driving in OD. I know since I fried my 89 k-2500's tranny driving under load too much in OD.

Props for this Chevy camper van advertised here tho....that longer wheelbase makes them much smoother riders on the jointed cement freeways in Cali.....no butt end hopping up and down violently like with the Ford extended WB vans.

And, FWIW, these Chevy vans have the engine pushed out in front a bit farther than the Dodge, so they give the passenger more leg room. Other than the mileage, this looks like a pretty nice rig.

Re: 2008 Chevy Express 3500

Well I had the 6.0L but I also dropped it and had 3.23 gears in the back. Truck was far from stock to be honest, but most of it didn't have anything to do with mpg but making power.
