Beware of Ad for 2005 SMB Quigley 4x4 Austin, TX
Hi, I've been recently looking to buy our first SMB (lurking on the forum for several months now). Well, I found a deal on an 05 SMB E-350 Quigley 4x4 with 66K miles, 6.0L diesel. I found it on Autotrader and had been talking to the salesman at Maxwell Ford in Austin about purchasing it. In the meantime, I saw the exact same van pictured on Autotrader a few days later, only this time the price was cut in half and the dealer name was now Maxwell Chrysler Jeep Dodge. Something sounded funny about the whole thing. So I called the "new" dealer and asked about the van, "Polo" said he would email me the pics. Nothing yet. So I contacted the first salesman and he knew nothing of it being re-listed or transferred to another dealer. He said he still had the van and if I was ready to put down a deposit he would hold it for me (I'm in Ohio, van is in Austin, TX). I told him to give me a couple minutes and I'd call back. Shortly after we hung up he called me back and said, "We just sold it." So I figured at least one of the guys was legit, or they had some kind of gimmick going on and I called them on it. Anyway, long story but thought I would share.
Then VIN # is 1FDSE34P95HA84925. The history checked out good on it and my wife and I were getting excited about our first SMB. Oh well, the search continues...
