Ford SMB w/PH top 4X4 V8

I accidently ran into this:

http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.jsp?c ... dard=false

and thought I mention it. I don't know the seller, have never seen the vehicle. Quigley conversion. Price seems okay especially if you can get it below $20K.

The hubcaps alone are worth it!

What do you think of this thing Jage? Paint the top to match, put some 285's and black wheels. Slowly build the inside (think beginner SMB build), Oh... and offer $19k

And call it "the raisin"?

Let's see, where to begin. The cost of a top is $5195. That makes it seem like a pretty good deal. Consider the top is likely salvage as they don't come silver- that was painted to match a silver van, so unless someone has a strange sense of style and money to burn making it not match, it probably came from a silver van.

The V8 has been questioned for sufficient power- not for a van, but for a fully built out SMB style interior. I don't remember any specific conclusions, but you're also talking larger tires which without gearing will cost power.

The interior is rough. The sub-floor is a great start if they've done a decent job, but who knows. I would count on ripping it out. The door panels are missing which makes completing the interior that much harder/more expensive. Screens on the rear windows make me think this was a work van (before the top).

Also the top is missing the PH bed and that outlet hanging out makes me wonder what powers it or where it plugs in. I wouldn't count on a free invertor or anything, but I'm curious.

There are definitely worse places to start, and the top is already there.
