Checked out the van today. It is a Lemon Law buy back from Ford. Van looked and drove great but the vehicle history showed a string of repairs at the dealership. Lemon Law on the title now for good.

Looks like it was owned by someone in San Diego.

Looks like a no start issue. 5 times bringing it for no start and one check engine light. The first transmission issue looks like owner error as the transfer case wasn't engaged in rear high.... duhhh. The price is high because PO had them buy it back at that price. Yes it should be much, much lower. I am surprised Ford was willing to put up the cash for that amount.

Too bad the title is branded now. If you could get it a lot cheaper then it would be a good find! No idea on what it should cost?

When I first started the engine my wife thought there was something broken! She and I are used to the diesels in my last two Chevy pickups. You can barely hear the one in my current 2008 dually She had a lot of questions during that little test drive. It was very funny. As I mentioned it looked very clean. I was surprised to see as much rust as there was underneath and I could not tell if they tried to paint over it or if it was a factory coating with rust showing through. I have a 2006 Quigley that I bought in Ohio with very little rust.....

Mine had a little bit of rust on the undercarriage. The PO used it primarily to run from LA to Mammoth mtn for skiing so it probably got a lot of salt and rocks. It only had 24k on the odometer when I bought it. I treated it with some paint. If you look at Jeffrey's in a post or two above mine you will see his also shows a little rust. There was no rust at all on the actual van body just the components underneath like the axle and brake hubs.

I'd be a lot less concerned about the condition of the van than I would about the price.

The engine had multiple no-start conditions. And most likely they have finally gotten to the root of the problem and fixed it. My van had multiple problems with the trans, and Ford offered to buy it back, and I made them settle for a bumper to bumper 7yr/100k warranty. And no problems in the 55K since then.

I would expect the price to be closer to $60K. Offer them $60K and see what happens when you are prepared to walk away. You might be pleasantly surprised.
