Not an SMB: Sumptuously Stealthy

Wow....don't judge a book by its unassuming cover.
This thing's gorgeous inside!

High-roof Chevy, fully-custom....
...as while its ad listing says, "not a Sportsmobile," it's one heck of a compelling and well-equipped alternative.

Beautiful "tiny home style" interior build.

No affiliation.

2000 Chevrolet Express 3500 Camper Van (not a sportsmobile) - $15000

2000 Chevrolet Express 3500 Camper Van (not a sportsmobile)

Hello!

Up for sale is a totally self-contained camper van in excellent condition. Bought from a local dealer with a great reputation the van was formally a government owned and maintained vehicle from Arizona (well-maintained and has very little to no rust). I have only put on 8,000 miles since purchase which means all the components installed are still brand new along with the interior fabrication. It operates great so far and the only things have needed change are the typical fluids (oil, brake, transmission, coolant). The "housing" portion of the van can run totally off the solar panels mounted to the roof. If you see a few hours of sunshine a day you would be able to run indefinitely off these panels alone. I run a fridge, lights, cellphone, tablet, computer, and charge several camera batteries without ever dipping below 80% of the battery capacity. The van is being sold because I have been given a 4x4 truck and have decided to build a camper for that (I'm still considering a smaller truck so a trade for a good condition Tacoma would be considered).

When building this van I intended to live in it to survive everything from CA summers to AK winters so everything I have sourced was the best that I could find at the time. As you can see from the pics the van is meant to be a "tiny home" on wheels with everything needed from a kitchen, fridge, comfortable bed, enclosed shower/toilet area, and plenty of storage. The large space really opens up the van and can be used for more sleeping, lounge area, or however you would like. The roof rack also has enough room for a large cargo roof box, kayaks, or surfboards. The van is fully insulated with 2" of solid polyiso on the sides with anywhere from 2-4" of insulation under the roof to survive any extreme winter or summer.

What is included with the van are as follows:

- Van itself (2000 Chevrolet Express 3500 5.7L V8 in the extended length)
- BFGoodrich K02 tires (brand new with less than 5,000 miles on them)
- Hella 500 Fog lights
- Two 100 Watt Kyocera solar panels mounted on roof
- 220Ah Lifeline batteries (house batteries that power the living portion)
- BlueSky Solar Boost 3000i controller (turns solar power into usable energy)
- Blue Sea ML-ACR relay (charges house batteries off car alternator as back-up charging source)
- Victron battery monitor (allows you to see condition of the house batteries)
- 8 LED ceiling lights that fully light up the van at night
- Atwood 2 burner stove with 20 gallon propane tank
- Full sink with manually operated foot water pump
- 45-Quart Whynter Portable Fridge (can also be a freezer)
- Two roof vents (one that is 12V and one that is solar powered)
- Twin sized bed
- Enclosed shower area
- Fold down table
- Rear hitch bike rack
- Kidde CO detector
- One rear back-up camera along with 2 blindspot cameras on the rear roof corners (all controlled via control center on the dashboard)
- Factory GM service manuals along with Haynes manual

All manuals for the above appliances/electronics are included.

So far this van has taken to me to over 8 National Parks and tons of backcountry roads for camping, fishing, biking, skiing, and fun! Sad to see all my hard work go but hoping whoever gets this van gets as much enjoyment as I have! Thanks for looking and please e-mail for more questions or pics.

It's not that hard to put a bigger bed in it especially with so much room

Whoa! I didn't notice that!
Somehow I read those up-front pictures as depicting that fridge/box/console thing as being **between** two front seats, not **replacing entirely** the front passenger seat.

Yep Abitibi, it sure looks like for that van's owner, it's the single pirate's life....for he.

Perhaps his CL description should read "Drivable Walden cabin for one"

Ahoy Matey!

Nice, but reminds me of a nautical themed ride at Disneyland or Magic Mountain.
