Overpriced?

Hi. I’m trying to sell my 2011 E350 v10. I haven’t had many bites on it. I’m trying to figure out if it’s overpriced and if it is then what is a reasonable amount. This is the craigslist ad minus the roof rack and wheels which got transferred to my new van.

I think you're reasonably priced, but it probably puts some people off to see pics, and then find out that everything in the pics is not included. Make the time to take some pics as it sits now, with the replacement wheels and without the roof rack (if it does not come with the roof rack).

Your ad isn't really clear if the roof rack comes with it or not. If there's confusion or conflicting information in the text, or between the text and the pics, it sends up warning flags that this could be a scam.

"Full walk on roof rack" ... "It does not come with ladder rack for 8k" and then it's priced at $7.8K and not 8K. Multiple conflicts in the information provided.

I agree with Herb, I think your price is right but your information needs to be cleaned up a bit. Also, you need exposure in the right places. Ford vans are too general for enthusiasts to find easily in a Craigslist search. Add it to the classifieds here and put it on the Expo 'vans for sale' thread as well as in the classifieds there. Also, since you're in the Southeast you should put in a call to Chris at Ujoint and tell him what you have. A v10 RB in any color that isn't white is something that his clientele are always looking for.

I honestly think you’re over priced. Low range for your van in it’s current condition / mileage is $4600 - high $7200.00 so your asking price seems high to me... a few adjustments in ad & price it will sell. Good luck with sale.

Local perspective:
Have you considered parking it in the high school (HHS) parking lot by the football stadium during the weekend?

Several of traffic for the cars that seem to be parked there every weekend and for sale.

I’m in Hendersonville. Do I have to get high school approval to do that?

I don't think so. I taught there for four years, wife is still a guidance counselor there and we've never known of anyone asking.

There have been police there, but that's because the upperclassmen and recent grads gather, loiter, and litter (and maybe drink?).

I've bought, modified and then sold a few vans here in Colorado and made a substantial profit doing it. I'm no expert but here's what I've found.

Has to be a 99 or newer
No more than 150k
People don't like seeing a hitch on a van

200k on a V10 isn't much, but most people don't realize that. All the vans I've sold have gone to people under the age of 30 and not mechanically inclined.

IMO
Take a lot photos of how it's going to be sold and possibly be ready to wait until spring. I always do a video and attach the youtube link to the ad.
