Re: pop top ford with interior on ebay

Looks like a GTRV.

Also an interesting use of a what seems to be a roof vent, but mounted vertically in the rear door. Similar to how GTRV mounts their AC units. I'd be curious to see how that works in person. Kind of a neat idea for airflow.

I'm on the fence about the Buy It Now price. Seems a bit optimistic. If it was a V10, then maybe.

That Fantastic Fan in the rear door is very interesting, as is the powered passenger seat lift. I'm guessing the seat lift factors significantly into the BIN price.

I hope!

Maximum stealth, but maximum price too!

Re: pop top ford with interior on ebay

Very high asking price, IMO. To me, the power-lift passenger seat actually detracts from the value. Unless, of course, you are that exact buyer that needs a lift seat (I've never seen such a thing, but it is pretty cool). I imagine most anyone who buys the van will remove that setup and go back to stock.

The rear-door fan has me thinking... I may give it a try. I have a plain-white E250 so rear doors are plentiful and cheap at the scrap yard. Maybe I'll try it with a donor door first and see how it works. My biggest complaint with my SMB is how hot it gets on nights where we can't keep all the windows open due to rain. I would think that the fan on the rear door, with the vent cover aimed so that it opens toward the bottom, would work even if it was raining (combined with the pop-open windows in the barn doors).

That's quite the stealth pop top roof, can hardly tell its there when closed... As for price given the low mileage, what seems to be a well built and complete interior (aside for the toilet's plumbing ) I don't think it's that far off. Just the wrong engine for me...

Cheers

The rear fan is very interesting. Top left corner is broken at the screw hole. No way to know if this was from stress due to install location or if it got bumped somehow.

Looking on GTRV's site, I see that they get even more creative with fan mounting. Look closely at the photo below from their site and you'll see a fan installed in the sheet metal on the SIDE of the van! That would give me pause, for sure...

With any of those fan mounting locations, some extra care needs to take place to make sure the lid on the fan is closed while driving. It may not be very likely, but some of those rearward locations could permit exhaust gases to enter the vehicle while driving.
