Should I take the second chance on ebay

I am the second highest bidder on that 1996 SMB on ebay and have been given the second chance offer - should I get it sight unseen?

I wouldn't want to buy it without checking for rust and corrosion. I lived in Jacksonville, Florida. I moved down there with a pristine 1980 Oldsmobile Delta 88. It didn't have a speck of rust on it. One and a half years later is was a rust bucket. The sea air and humidity is harsh on cars.

Ebay second chance offers are sometimes scams, too, so I'd be doubly cautious.

Did you try contacting the seller and ask why the deal didn't go down? I think there might be a way to contact the winning bidder and ask them too. Lastly, if you were willing to spend the $ in the first place, why not now? I mean, eBay is all sight unseen no?

What BrianW said. I thought second chance offers have no buyer protection from ebay. I never trust them myself.

I bought a pair of Lucchese boots via second chance off eBay a couple of years ago. The offer came via eBay, so I felt comfortable buying them. YMMV.
