Losing my warm and fuzzy on the seller. Sounds shady.

Buyer beware - its not exactly located in Beverly Hills.
I received an email from him this morning as well(8:30am). No mention of the pending sale/pick up.

I'd say definitely bring a friend or two for the ride on this one!

It's Craigslist.. that's the way it should work... it's still for sale until you hand over the money.

I have had countless people say they were on the way with cash in hand... and never show up.

I couldn't disagree more.

I respect your opinion, however.

What's a man without his word?

When selling things I give buyers a deadline and Ill hold it for them until then. If they need more time than I'm comfortable with I offer "leave a deposit or take your chances".

Don't get me wrong.. I would love to take people at their word. And I do, just not on CL. There are way too many crackheads on CL to do that.. If you told other people an item was sold every time someone said they wanted it, you'd never sell anything.

Haven't come across that problem. I sell everything eventually and without stress.

I use "sold pending funds until xx:xx and you are back up buyer #1". Works great for both buyer and back up buyer as it creates a time constraint and puts the pressure on them.

1st one to Compton with a wad of cash wins.

I worked in Compton for a few years......made the drive from Yorba Linda every single day. There's an almost visible line.....across which you should have your doors locked and your ducks in a row....because you have no business stopping for snacks or directions.

All that to say...bring a friend and keep the cash out of sight until you're sure of the deal!

5pm edit: Man....it's getting dark soon. I hope you're not heading over there after sun-down.

Re: Super Cheap SMB..1990 Ford...So Cal

It's a 4x4! Tons of surface rust underneath, grey taped wing windows, rough running..Complete Jed Clampet/Beverly Hillbillies look. Seller was late, fast talker, everything I asked for, like send me a pic of title, no. He seems to be reselling tax deducted donated
Trucks, backhoes... When I saw how bent side doors were, misaligned a mess, I passed, thinking frame could be bent? Not sure...inside dirty but ok, top looked ok, just glanced at it. I don't think it has tags, and I don't think he owns it. Many have passed on it today, do you have time to waste? Call him then!

Looks like my instincts were correct. Good thing I didn't drive all the way to Compton. Too many red flags.

Copes Cobra looked at it. Said roof structure is rusted right through. Looked like a homeless person was living in it for a month. Doesn't look anything like the photos.

Would greasy or shady best describe the seller?
