For this money, this looks like a good deal, I'd go for it, but know you may need to put some money into fixing some stuff, cleaning up some of his homebrew interior, etc. But where else do you get a 4x4 poptop van with less than 100k for under $20k?
Very true.

Its not in the ad, I texted him and it is indeed a rebuilt salvaged title and as anyone with these type of titles, he downplayed it as not being bad damage. May still be a decent van but it just makes things tricky with insurance etc and depending on how much money you put into fixing it up, resale will always be hard.

Aha! So then yes, this might be a bit high priced. I've got no problem with salvaged vehicles, owned them before, but they are worth less for a reason!

I have some white paint. It's not hard to find. It would've been so much easier to paint that top before it went on.

Can you get full coverage insurance on a salvage titled vehicle? If you couldn't that would be risky since you're putting out a good chunk of change.

Depends on the State. In Arizona you can, but you have to get a level III inspection at the DMV... They check the vin on the frame, and drive train to make sure they match (and not stolen) and check all the safety equipment (lights, horn, restraint system etc...). They will then issue a 'restored salvage' title, and you can re-insure it. Obviously the perceived value would be less, and the insurance would probably require an appraisal. You then would want to get a stated value policy based off the appraisal.... I've done it a couple of times, just not on a van.
