Worth the money??? GMC Sportsmobile RB40

Still currently on the hunt for a SMB or similar style build and came across this on the SMB Texas pre-owned section. I'm partial to GM to Ford just because I am much more familiar with them and the components/quirks since I drive a GMC truck daily now.

This one seems to be in good shape. Just needs a 4x4 conversion later??

Let me know what you think. My plans for use with the van are ski and bike trips, weekenders and keeping it for a long time.

I don’t see a GMC but I do see a few Chevys. Maybe the GMC sold already? The one Chevy is 4x4 and diesel, which may not be necessary. The 6.0 gas engines are great, but a little thirsty. The diesel of that vintage should get pretty good fuel economy.

Sorry, I thought it sent the link to the exact van. Guess not. I was referring to the 2000 Chevy Express RB40 on the site. Either Chevy or GMC would be good with me.

It seems nice. My only concern with the Texas builds is they may not be cold weather insulated. Many of them only address cooking (ac units) and do not have any heat sources (furnace). So I don’t know how warm it would be. Maybe worth asking about.

Distinguishing features - wet bath and generator - neat setup without ludicrous pricing. Higher miles but may be fine.

Definitely worth the money, but be aware 4x4 conversion options for the Chevy/GMC platform are very limited. Potentially only Boulder Offroad?

Whereas there’s many good options for the Fords.

Weldtec Designs in El Cajon is doing GM 4x4 conversions as well.

I didnt know that.. I know Jeremy was lifting Quigley's, didn't know they were converting themselves.. D60 or TTB?

Thank you all for the feedback. I'm in a Vanagon now so the huge list of amenities isn't as high on my agenda as ability to drive it without worry of freeway or size of hills. 91k miles on the 6.0 isn't too many given that they often go over 200k without a leak or issue.

As far as 4x4, I know of a few shops locally who would do it similar to a GM truck straight axle swap because the transmission and engine are the same. Anyone know who in the van world used to do the straight axle swaps on the GM vans?
