2002 7.3 Won't Start

Started up and drove for about 2 hours yesterday with no problem. Did about 10 miles on dirt roads and then parked for about 3 hours. When I got back and started it up the engine just turned for a long time with nothing and then it just fired right up and we drove back home at freeway speeds for about 2 hours. No loss of power and it seemed to run fine. This morning I head back out to start the van and it won't go. It turns over endlessly but it almost seems like it's not getting fuel.

I'm just wondering where I should start and maybe the most likely cause.

HPOP... The injectors won't fire unless the pressure is above a certain point. If the HPOP doesn't produce that pressure, no go. There's a bunch of tests you can do (google!), as there are a handful of components that can cause the HPOP not to create enough pressure (or think that it has not created enough pressure).

Could be your TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) acting up?

I'll setup my scanguage later and see if I can get some readings. After the long start yesterday it ran well, whatever that means. The small oil gauge fluttered a bit before but now it's not doing anything. I'm also not getting any codes.

Just a random guess off the top of my head... CPS.

They're known to be faulty and they're cheap and easy to replace.

Yes. Sorry, that should have been my first answer. Takes 10 minutes to change and could certainly cause what you've been seeing... They often give some warning before they fail.

I've had CPS issues. You think you're stuck, and then they suddenly work again (for a while).
