6.0L Oil Pump Failure X 2

Well, now that the oil pump failure thread had morphed into a coolant discussion, I'll mention that my plan at the end of summer is to convert my 7.3L over to ELC. Doesn't sound difficult, just time consuming and generates a significant amount of coolant-laced waste water that needs to be processed. Removing the engine block plugs and dealing with all the distilled water for the rinse won't be fun though.

May go with a coolant filter as well, though it doesn't seem to be as important with the 7.3L.

NAPA sells Zerex Extended Life Diesel Coolant (ZED-1). It is CAT/Cummins approved. It's good stuff.


FWIW - the Zerex can be safely mixed with green (I called Zerex myself affter the radiator shop topped off our Peterbilt with green), as long as it is a non-EGR motor.

Thanks all for the info. I will adding the coolant filter as soon as I get the fluids taken care of. Been thinking about it for a while and look where that got me. Guess that should move to the top of the list.
