7.3 Engine Replacement

Has anyone had to replace their 7.3 engine and what are approximate costs? I contacted jasper and was surprised by their price (not in a good way)...
Thanks!

I had to replace my 7.3
I got the (used)motor from a very good friend for cheap and had it installed by another friend with my help and many new parts. It was well above $5K.
We took it out through the front...

I'd go with Ashville over Jasper but your not going to like their pricing either. Asheville Engine Rebuilders - 6.7 & 6.4 Powerstroke

That said, I have a 6.0 Jasper long block in my rig. No issues.

Did you have to cut anything, like radiator supports? Or were you able to just unbolt everything you needed to?

Unbolted everything and slid it out...
All done and running in a total of 22.5 hours.
Not much room, like 1/2 inch clearances lol

No cutting, the front of the van comes apart and the engine goes right through the front. I did it on a 5.4l but it's the same, just bigger and heavier.

Rob and Eric, do you think that way is easier than lifting the body?

On a camper van for sure. Empty panel van maybe not.
